Entering The Business World

Hello World,

Yes today I’m coming at you with the stressful, intimidating employment world. The scary but exciting “real” first job – real as in dipping your toes into the start of your c a r e e r. How many of you have a planned career? Now how many of you have a plan B career? Let’s take it to the Career Development classroom…

A plan B career is basically your back up plan as in the sucky job that you’re good at but don’t love but have to do for money or to wait for your actual career to kick off.

Usually – or in my case- you start off with your plan B because your plan A is the dream job. So I’m on a hunt for a secretary position at an accounting firm or an administrative/executive assistant position to lead me to be an accountant. I’m still in school working on my associate’s degree and I’m planning on someday getting my bachelors in Accounting.  ßSee that’s a plan B career, no excitement just technical mumbo-jumbo.

The dream job is when you hustle hard for an amazing fantasy you play out in your head. Sometimes you have to start low in your desired industry and grow to the dream position. I personally D R E A M (all the time) of opening up my own natural hair beauty school in the big apple-since they are non-existent in the NY state and I LOVE THAT IDEA. This idea was originally announced to me and a bunch of naturalistas at a natural hair event by Diane C. Bailey and I was just amazed how she put all my passions and scattered desires into a bold concrete goal (that we have in common). I intend on getting into the natural hair industry by starting off with getting my cosmetology license to become a licensed professional, building my brand, and networking within the industry to learn from inspiring independent women while attaining my Masters in Business Administration ..And maybe, hopefully, all fingers and toes crossed- partner up with Ms. Bailey herself and get this show on the road.  ßNow that’s a career plan coming from the heart.

Take some time to write down some long term career goals and some short term career goals to reach your dream job and your plan B.

Certificates, licenses, and degrees better prepare you to stand out from a crowd who’s after the same job you want but experience is key. To know the theory and the applied science of a subject does not mean you truly understand it. For example you can’t accurately know natural hair by reading a really good textbook on it and knowing all its technical terms, you need to have years of experience getting your hands into all types of textures and situations to precisely recognize what that specific head of hair requires.

I leave you off with a quote I read I believe from Nick Arrojo “with experience opportunities follow,” soo dream BIG and strategize BETTER. It’s never too early or late to start! GO!

Love Kay

P.S. Comment what your plans are i'd love to know, and what do you think of mine? any suggestions or advice ?

My Objectives

Embracing what I have is my ultimate goal, not needing to alter what I have been blessed with but just enhancing my imperfections with healing beneficial ingredients in natural products and applying the same concept to my body and inner soul; I want to indulge in a healthy mind, spirit, and physical being; fill myself up with Self Love from head to toe, inside and out.

I am apart of far too many journeys and of course have set many goals for myself which I would love to share so we can all be on the same boat and ya’ll could get to know a little bit about my love for progress and growth.

I will go into more detail about each journey in future Blog Posts put here’s an overall list, with some background information, (in no specific order) of what I’m working with.

Weight Loss
I am technically over weight according to the WPM, I weigh about 160 lbs right now and my goal is anything under 125 lbs.

Natural Products
I mostly use natural cosmetics and hair products but I want everything that I apply topically to myself or my family to contain 100% natural ingredients.

Natural Hair
I have been a transitioning “natural”(I have never permed my hair) since August 2013; meaning I have been creating a hair regimen that contributes to health not damage. I have stopped dying my hair with chemical dyes and have only applied heat to my hair a handful of times to embrace my curls. For the next year I hope to only apply heat 3 times in total, continue to use all natural products(which I basically almost have), and no chemical dyes allowed on my pretty little head.
My ultimate goal is hip length hair (when stretched), to not use shampoo, and a dandruff free scalp.

Skin Care
I want to build a skin care regimen, right now it is nonexistent, I do use makeup occasionally and apply a stretch marks cream daily to my tiger marks( I’ll review it after a couple months, so far so good), and bathe regularly with whatever soap I find in my tub; that’s basically all I do.
I wish to even my skin tone all around, make my own body products, and moisturize and exfoliate; you know, be a bit more girly.

Vegetarian
I definitely lean towards longevity and I wish to extend my years as much as I can. I have read up on the benefits of vegetarianism and it is so worth it  to me). I will be starting with Meatless Monday and someday go all out and turn to the green side.

Diet
I eat whatever is around whenever I get hungry, sometimes even when I’m just bored. I want to incorporate whole foods into my meals, plan out what I eat, and cook more often.
Eventually I want to be healthy, eat right to feel right and with all that I know I’ll eventually look right ;)

Some Personal Achievements
I have a couple personal goals (I won’t mention all) that I have that I won’t go in detail, but I just want you all to know that focusing on the details of your life allows you to discover areas of possible growth.
I have goals in becoming a Professional Cosmetologist /Natural Hair Care Stylist/Teacher, Education-College Grad, Relationship-WifeHood, Independence, starting a YouTube channel, and even simple things like reading more books.

There is always room for improvement, comment a couple of your goals and if you have any suggestions for accomplishing my goals let me know. I will have challenges here and there to keep me motivated and entertained in case I lose focus so stay tuned for those,

Thank you for stopping by,

Welcome To My Journey

Welcome World,

I believe we explore to discover; figuring out who we are and what we’re about defines our value.

I am personally exploring my options and discovering what life has to offer and what I should be giving back. I believe that to live is to progress.

So explore life; it’s an endless beautiful journey; endless because knowledge is limitless and your legacy is timeless. No invention is as interesting, complex, and as well put together as a human being. So who are you? And more importantly who do you want to become? How will you blossom into your own beautiful creation?

I’m on a journey to expand my many passions and grow as an individual to make my mark.
Come along and Explore…
